Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper. If using an air fryer, preheat it to 180°C (350°F) for a few minutes.

  2. Drain the tuna thoroughly, pressing out as much liquid as possible to ensure the mixture holds together well during baking.

  3. Finely dice the red onion and place it in a large mixing bowl with the tuna, eggs, shredded reduced-fat cheese, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  4. Mix everything thoroughly until a uniform mixture forms. The mixture should be firm enough to shape by hand.

  5. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into long, finger-sized strips. Arrange them on the prepared baking tray, leaving a little space between each strip.

  6. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the strips are firm and lightly golden. For the air fryer, cook for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway through if needed for even browning.

  7. Let the tuna strips cool for 2–3 minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm with a fresh salad, roasted vegetables, or your favorite high-protein dipping sauce.

Chef's Tip

Draining the tuna well is the key to firm, crispy strips that won't fall apart. For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried oregano, garlic powder, or chili flakes to the mixture. These tuna strips are perfect for meal prep and stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
